[Eau Claire, Wis.] A newly appointed Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice made a campaign stop in Eau Claire Monday.

 

Two weeks ago Rebecca Bradley was sworn into office. She was appointed to the court by Governor Scott Walker to fill the remainder of Patrick Crooks’ term, after he died in office last month.

 

Monday morning Justice Bradley stopped by the Green Mill to speak at a woman’s business GOP luncheon. She said her campaign is all about judicial philosophy.

 

“I believe it is so important that we have judges and justices who understand our role to apply the law as it’s written and to set aside our policy preferences and any political inclinations because we all have those. But the job of a judge is to set those aside and be a fair, neutral, impartial and independent decider of the law. That’s what I bring to the bench and that’s what motivates me,” said Justice Bradley.

 

She said she will run to keep the seat in the upcoming election. The primary is in February.

 

Bradley says she’s the first Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice to have experience on both the trial court bench as well as the court of appeals.
